READ MY HANDS
Problem: There are 70% of Deaf people who are underemployed or unemployed. The issue of this percentage falls under businesses today that don't recognize the great value of hiring a Deaf person.
Solution: Read My Hands uses graphic design to support the Deaf Community, spread awareness of the difficulties they face with employment and to encourage businesses to hire more Deaf individuals.
This project has several forms of design; posters, post cards, guidebook, office kit, motion graphics, and social media.
Posters: Highlighting successful Deaf people within different occupations. Each poster uses quotes from them with both written English and ASL.
Postcards: Designed to raise awareness of the unemployment rates experienced within the Deaf Community.
Buttons: To spread more awareness of the issues and get more people to support the Deaf Community.
Guidebook/Kit: “I AM DEAF” is a how to guide for employers to learn about the Deaf culture and community with the idea of hiring someone who is deaf. Cited Sources from Fredrick Country Workplace Services Handbook PDF
